I would like to take a moment and welcome you to a new world of Indian Gourd Art. Gourds are a hard-shell, pumpkin like, vine fruit that dries to a wood like finish- anything you can do to wood you can do to hard-shell gourds. They can be carved-sanded- burned-dyed and painted on. A great deal of effort goes into the design and I pay meticulous attention to detail, both with the gourd -its shape, colour and texture, and with the design. Each piece is unique and they can take up to 100 hours or more to complete. I am especially motivated by nature's beauty and fragility and often my favourite gourds are ones designed around Hindu mythology. Each gourd has a life of its own, hand-crafted by Mother Nature, and enhanced only by my imagination. It gives me great pleasure to offer my artwork for viewing.and I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating these special gourds.
